Welcome to the official website of the West Virginia Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. The SCV was formed in 1896 and has over 30,000 members worldwide. Our purpose is to honor the memory of the Confederate soldier, protect and maintain their monuments, battlefields, relics, and gravesites, and preserve the true history of the War Between The States. Members in over 700 camps nationwide participate in a variety of civic and educational projects, including living history presentations, memorial ceremonies, genealogy projects, reenactments, and more. We welcome contributions of articles, photos, maps, or letters pertaining to the Confederate experience in West Virginia to post on this site. The West Virginia Division SCV message board is also available as a forum to discuss issues of interest. If you are a male descendant of a Confederate soldier or sailor and would like to learn more about your Confederate heritage, I encourage you to join the SCV.
